A Message From Team Army
Rich Schaus (rich.schaus@grmok.org), Executive Director of Gospel Rescue Mission, is representing Army.
Rich arrived at Army Basic Training at Fort Leonard Wood Missouri on April 28,1994. When Rich arrived, he was undisciplined, had never fired any kind of weapon, was a new believer in Christ and unsure what he was doing in life. A strange thing happened as he spent that summer learning the skills to be a combat medic, he fell in love with the Army culture.
This passion led him to sign up for ROTC with the determination to become an officer. Three years later, Rich received his commission as a 2nd Lieutenant in the Army Field Artillery and started his new life as a married man at Fort Sill, Oklahoma. While serving the Army in Germany, Rich deployed to Kosovo as part of the peacekeeping force there and then resigned his commission in 2001 and began his work with the poor and homeless.
The Army trained Rich to be disciplined, an expert on the M16A2, and a solid man of faith. God used the Army to help Rich become anti-fragile enough to hang out with those that have experienced a wide array of trauma.
Why root for Army during the Army-Navy Game on December 14? Well, imagine cheering for a team that embodies grit, determination, and a never-say-die attitude! The Black Knights are not just playing for a win; they're playing for honor, tradition, and the pride of the entire U.S. Army. Plus, their uniforms are always on point. So, grab your black and gold gear, practice your "Go Army, Beat Navy!" chant, and get ready to witness some epic football action. It's more than a game; it's a battle of wills, and Army is ready to charge to victory!
